Recommended approach

Choose a complete two-leg electric desk frame with synchronised motors, height memories and levelling feet. Maidesite T2 Pro Plus is the provisional first choice; confirm the supplied revision and fixing drawing before ordering. Keep heavy planing, hammering and high-force clamping on the mobile bench.

Bench specification

Proposed footprint

1400 × 700 mm for review. This gives a laptop zone and a separate small-parts work area; final size follows the frame drawing and rear-wall clearance check.

Homemade top

Start from the mobile bench’s 21 mm plywood plus removable 16 mm MDF approach (37 mm total), subject to the frame fixing instructions. Seal edges; select mounting screws to suit actual thickness. Top mass and holder loads count towards the lift rating.

Dog holes

Use the existing UJK kit: 20 mm holes on the shared 96 mm grid, limited to the work area. Leave a solid laptop/mouse zone. Lay out the actual steel supports, motors and cable tray first; drill only where dogs and clamps have room below.

French cleats

Use the mobile bench’s bevel and front-bearing holder arrangement on short end aprons. Keep the seated front edge clear for knees. Allow the complete lift-and-pull release path and include tool weight in the moving load.

Working heights

Retain 800 mm for occasional alignment with the other benches. Save seated and standing presets after trying the stool and laptop posture. Frame height plus the actual top thickness gives finished height; do not assume the display includes the custom top.

Frame requirements

Prefer three-stage columns, two motors, memory control, anti-collision and adjustable feet. Target at least 100 kg rated lifting load including the top, subject to the manufacturer’s load definition. A desk load rating does not establish resistance to workshop side loads.

Laptop and stool

Bring the laptop down as needed. Use a removable stand with separate keyboard for longer sessions, a stool with foot support and a protected charger. Route cables on the moving frame with slack through its full travel; leave the lifting envelope clear.

Frame shortlist

Prices checked 2026-10-02; frame only, excluding the homemade top. Delivery and final tax treatment are noted per supplier.

Layout and fit

Proposed adjustable workstation at the rear, towards the storage side. Footprint is a 1400 × 700 mm design option based on a listed compatible desktop size, not a surveyed fit or approved cut size. Drawn at the shared 800 mm datum for comparison; operating height varies. Check stool space, cable movement, wall clearance and long stock at the mitre station. Earlier rear-wall parking for the mobile bench and table saw remains provisional; no vehicle or circulation fit is certified.

Before buying or cutting

• Choose frame and obtain its dimensioned fixing layout before drilling the top.
• Confirm top size, weight, fasteners and allowable overhang with the frame supplier.
• Trial seated and standing positions; select the stool accordingly.
• Check rear-wall location with the mobile bench parked, stool occupied and long mitre-saw stock present.
• Keep adjustable-height movement clear of wall storage, sockets and neighbouring furniture.

Design brief

Owner requested a bring-your-own-laptop workstation, purchased adjustable frame, homemade top, possible dog holes and compatible cleats, a dedicated tab and inclusion in the layout on 2026-10-02. Frame choice, size and exact location are recommendations awaiting review.
